Monday 04-04-2011 : Making Fife's Roads Safer
In the February 2011 KOFG Newsletter, an article was included entitled “Making Fife’s Roads Safer”. It has since been pointed out that conditions stipulated by St Andrews University require that any document produced by an under-graduate and released into the public domain must be co-authored by a lecturer, and the original article only mentioned Rachael Barnes as the author.

Friday 01-04-2011 : IAM Annual Subscription
It has been confirmed that the IAM Annual Membership Subscription will increase from £31 to £32 (£29.50 if paid by Direct Debit). This increase will take effect from 1st April 2011.


Monday 01-11-2010 : Reduced IAM Re-Test Fee
IAM have announced that they have reduced the cost of a car or motorcycle retest, for those who don't pass the test on their first attempt, from £65 to £35.


Tuesday 01-06-2010 : New KOFG Phone Number
As well as getting in touch with KOFG via email (enquiries@kofgiam.org.uk), you can now also do this by local rate phone number 0845 604 8342. (Calls to this number cost 5p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge).


Friday 05-03-2010 : IAM Surety Insurance Expanded To Cover Younger Drivers
Adelaide Insurance have announced that IAM Surety, the insurance product specifically for IAM members, has been extended to cover 19-21 year olds. Click here for further details of IAM Surety or to arrange to get a quote.


Thursday 25-02-2010 : IAM Annual Subscription
At the 2009 IAM AGM, it was confirmed that the IAM Annual Membership Subscription would increase from £30 to £31 (£28.50 if paid by direct debit). This increase will take effect from 1st April 2010.


Saturday 19-12-2009 : KOFG Christmas Lunch
2009 Christmas Lunch Organiser The KOFG Christmas Lunch took place at the Kirklands Hotel, Kinross. All who attended enjoyed the event and agreed that the venue was an excellent choice.
 
In recognition of his efforts in organising this event, Kenny Wilson was presented with a Ginger Bread Heart from Alan Munro (see photo).

Tuesday 01-09-2009 : New IAM Chairman
Alistair Cheyne OBE, a former Deputy Managing Director of the AA, has taken over as Chairman of the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). Previously IAM Vice Chairman, Alistair, 65, succeeds David Kenworthy.


Sunday 10-05-2009 : 2009 Scottish Motorshow At Knockhill
IAM At 2009 Motorshow Over the two days that this event was on (9th-10th May), members of the IAM Groups associated with the SE Forum from Dundee, Fife, Forth Valley and Perth have been at Knockhill staffing the Mobile Display Unit (MDU) offering information to anyone interested in joining or finding out more about the IAM.
 
As was the case last year at this event, the weather wasn't wonderful but there was still a lot of interest in IAM.

Sunday 08-02-2009 : British Red Cross First Aid Course
The First Aid course, run by British Red Cross and attended by members of Fife & Perth Groups took place in Dunfermline today. The feedback from this event so far has been very positive and all who attended found it to be an enjoyable and informative day, whether they had done any sort of First Aid training in the past or if this was their first time. Thursday 27-11-2008 : IAM 2008 AGM
At this years AGM, the proposed IAM Annual Membership Subscription increase from £18 to £30 (£28 if paid by direct debit) was approved with 284 members voting for and 178 voting against. This increase will take effect from 1st January 2009.


Saturday 04-10-2008 : IAM 2008 Annual Car Conference
At this years Conference, two new member discounts were announced. These are for Halfords and Garmin. More news on these will be available in your next IAM Advanced Driving magazine.


Tuesday 01-07-2008 : Free Highway Codes
From 1st July 2008, Kingdom Of Fife Group will supply all new Associates with a free copy of the latest edition of the Highway Code.

Monday 09-06-2008 : 50th Anniversary Of Kingdom Of Fife Group (KOFG)
At the monthly committee meeting on 9th June, it was confirmed that the Kingdom Of Fife Group of Advanced Motorists will be celebrating it's 50th Anniversary this year. Keep an eye on this website for details of any special events being planned to mark this.


Thursday 05-06-2008 : Membership Restrictions Lifted
Restrictions lifted in relation to IAM Membership for drivers who have points on their licence of have previously been banned from driving.
 
Until now it has not been possible for someone with nine or more points on their driving licence to take the IAM Ddvanced Test. Similarily there has been a restriction on people who have been disqualified from driving taking the test, until a period equal to the length of their disqualification period has elapsed. With immediate effect these two restrictions have been removed.
 
There is a restriction currently applied which prevents anyone who has a court case for a driving matter pending (including the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice) taking the test until the court case is completed. This restriction will continue to apply.

Sunday 11-05-2008 : 2008 Scottish Motorshow At Knockhill
IAM MDU At 2008 Motorshow Over the two days that this event was on (10th-11th May), members of the IAM Groups associated with the SE Forum from Borders, Dundee, Fife, Forth Valley and Perth have been at Knockhill staffing the Mobile Display Unit (MDU) offering information to anyone interested in joining or finding out more about the IAM. On the Saturday there were also IAM Motorcycle members present.
 
Despite the usual Knockhill weather with thunder and lightning on the Saturday, levels of interest in the IAM over the two days were very good, with Sunday afternoon seeming to be the the busiest time.

Tuesday 01-04-2008 : Skill For Life Price Increase
With effect from 1st April 2008, the cost of the IAM Skill for Life package for cars will be increasing from £85 to £99 (from £65 to £79 for drivers under the age of 26). The IAM Skill for Life package still offers excellent value for money, especially considering that this is the first price increase since February 2003. The increase for motorcycles is slightly higher due to the higher test fees involved.

Monday 12-11-2007 : Scottish Ambulance Service Presentation To KOFG
As advertised in the recent Newsletter, the presentation & talk by IAM member Bill Mason of the Scottish Ambulance Service took place at Fife Police HQ in Glenrothes. As with other social events, this was open to all IAM members as well as family & friends. All who attended this event found it to be interesting and very much enjoyed it. Thanks Bill.


Saturday 06-10-2007 : 2007 Annual Conference
At the 2007 IAM Annual Conference in Wolverhampton, it was announced that this year's winner of the Fred Welch Rosebowl was Fred Davidson of the Kingdom Of Fife Group. This is great news not only for Fred but also for the Kingdom of Fife Group. Congratulations Fred !
 
It was also announced at the Conference that Station Officer Dave Hewston was this year's winner of the Dominic Fox award.
