Hi, I passed my test in 2000 after taking a direct access course with ProScot in Kirkcaldy.
To be honest, for the first 10 years I was just an occasional rider and probably survived on luck and wits more than skill or experience!
It was only after a friend suggested we do the BikeSafe course with the Fife Police that I began to think about improving my skills and becoming a better rider. After doing a tour with a group of fairly advanced riders I realised I still had an awful lot to learn and that’s when I had a look to see what other training was available.
I signed up for the IAM at the Scottish Bike show and went on to pass the test with Kingdom of Fife Group. Since then I’ve become a Local Observer and latterly a National Observer. As a result my riding’s improved more in the past 5 years than in the 15 before it!
